I want a 'new' one, just so I'll know its history.

On the YZ's they are basically the same bike since 2006.so I would say it'd be totally worth it on an older bike (2009ish), as long as you can find one that isn't beat. From what I'm reading, reliability isn't an issue (as long as preventative is taken care of regularly).but I haven't seen anything conclusive on the Hard to start. My two main concerns are reliability, and if its hard to start. I actually prefer the close ratio trans for desert racing (at least on my 450).but if I couldn't come to terms with the tight trans on the 250/300 I'd certainly add the WR gears. Its been so long since I've ridden a two stroke, I may just ride it as a 250 for a while, maybe add a flywheel e how I like it, and then put the 300 kit on it. I'm a few months away from having the cash for a new bike, and maybe by then those '14's will be gone and the extra cost of a '15 will not make it as economical.but still, I'm curious. I'd go this route over the 300xc just because its a cheaper option, AND I don't have to deal with either a used '13 or older 300 OR the 4cs forks on the newer models.

I'm intrigued by this idea.and honestly, I'm kind of hoping someone will talk me out of it (and I'll just buy another 450).but looking in other forums most people love them. And a flywheel weight is also recommended. I've heard they have some issues with Jetting (but I believe I saw that GYTR sells a jet kit specifically for those.not sure though), and I've also seen online that they can be difficult to start (like don't try and start them without a riding boot on), which is almost a deal breaker in a desert race. Plaza Cycle has a couple of brand new 2014 YZ250's for $5400.The big bore kit is $900 (I believe this is an entirely new head, piston, rings, etc), so $6300 for a brand 300cc two stroke (with the best stock suspension you can buy: Kayaba SSS.but no e-start). You guys are all gear heads.way more than me.do you have any experience/knowledge of the YZ300 (250 bored out to a 295)? (Or maybe even big bore kits in general.) Maintenance issues are my main concern.
